Modrick Buck has always been on his own when it comes to music — and inspiration for his new track, “Self Made”. The Zimbabwe-born rapper is unsigned and decided to build a label himself with his friends called Dopeboy Music. In doing so, this has allowed Modrick Buck to work at a higher level, truly giving him the title “Self Made”.

The track has a modern trap feel that would fit on any of today’s hip hop playlists. On the track, Modrick raps a bar and says, “Did you see my life before?” This phrase is part of Modrick Buck’s story, and he uses it to hint about the struggles of life in Zimbabwe to transitioning to London. The track highlights Buck’s many references about his rise to success. While he could talk about fake or materialistic things, he instead chooses to remain authentic.

There’s no denying the amount of work it takes to reach the limelight, and Modrick Buck would most likely agree. He has created success for himself by creating his own techniques and systems that work for him and his music. Speaking in glory about his work, “Self Made” is definitely one to give a listen.
