DJLeach is an upcoming artist out of Upstate New York We got the chance to interview him. Check it out below:

Tell us about your background getting to where you are today?

I actually started as a dancer and danced in national competitions until I was about 15 or 16. The entire time I was making music as well but it wasn’t until about 2016 when I met Jake Strain that I really started taking my music seriously. Since then we have both been growing our brands, expanding our fan bases and just continuing to grow together.

Where are you from?

Upstate New York

When did you start music?

I started writing music around the age of 5 I’d say and began taking it “seriously” when I was 12. Since then the older I’ve gotten the more serious it has become.

What is the most challenging thing you have overcome in your life?

Honestly just my music career in general. It has not been an easy path by any standard and I’m humbled to have made it as far as I have so far and can’t wait to see where I end up. One cool thing about being an artist is that I may never “make it” but as long as I keep trying, I’ll never meet failure.

Are you currently signed or independent?

I am currently independent much like the artist Dax. I want my fans to be my family and my family to be my label. I do work closely with Jake Strain though, the CEO of Swaggertown Records

Who inspires you the most musically?

Guess I jumped the gun on that last one because currently without a doubt it’s Dax. He gave up a guaranteed career for an unlikely to succeed career. And he’s making it happen too, that’s so inspiring to me due to the fact that music is all I’ve ever had. It was an easy choice for me, there was no choice. Dax truly chose music over basketball (he played in college.) His grind never stops and his fanbase is so loyal because we see the movement he is creating and what he is capable of. He literally kinda looks like Tupac and in some instances even sounds like him. That being said I do believe he will go down as one of the greats but not because he looks or sounds like Tupac; because he is Dax and i’ll continue to support him much like I have since day one till the last and hope you guys consider doing the same.

What do you want people to take away after listening to your music?

Nothing specific. I want people to have a good time and play my music at a party or just play it at home in their earbuds. My music will continue to change its sound as I change, mature and grow in life. In short I want people to take away who I am and what I’m about. Nobody will ever take that away from just one song though, they’d take that away from my music as a whole. If a new fan listens to one of my songs I want them to listen to another one. You can judge an artist off their musicas a whole but just one song.
