C.J. Green is making his own waves in the music industry

Being an artist while having a family is always challenging. However, for C.J. Green it is just a part of his every day life. After growing up without a father for most of his life, he is making an impact by being a family man and spreading wisdom through his music. Normally, a solid family in the music industry is unheard of. However, C.J. Green is changing that dynamic in a very unique way.

Luckily, we got the chance to ask him some questions.

Check out the interview below:

Interview:

C.J. Green
  1. Tell us about your background and getting to where you are today?

C.J. Green: “My father passed away when I was 13 and I bounced around a lot from different family members after that. Living in so many different places really gave me a big perspective on life and it helps me be able to relate to so many different types of people. Music is what I love and being able to make people feel things through music is a beautiful gift to be able to do.”

2. When did you start music?

C.J. Green: “I fell in love with music at a young age and the freedom to express yourself that comes with it. I started taking it more seriously on a professional level when I moved back to Atlanta from the D.c.area when I turned 18.”

3. What is the most challenging thing you have overcome in your life?

C.J. Green: “Honestly most of my childhood was rough. My dad was my best friend and when he passed my mom pretty much got rid of me. I stayed with a lot of different relatives and was in and out of trouble after that. It wasn’t until living with my aunt Julie in Alexandria, VA at 17 that I finally was happy again. What some people use as excuses I use it as motivation to go farther.”

4. From an outside perspective who is CJ Green?

C.J. Green: “C. J. Green is a family man that wants to bring real and authentic vibes to people. In an industry and world with so much fakeness out there I try to encourage people to be themselves and love themselves and to love rather than hate.”

5. Are you currently signed or independent?

C.J. Green: “Was in a Deal for a while but right now I’m Independent.”

6. Who inspires you the most musically?

C.J. Green: “There’s a lot honestly. My top rappers right now gotta be J. Cole. Kendrick. Big K.R.I.T., Mac miller., Meek mill, Nas and some west coast artists like my guy A.D. killing it too. For singers people like. Khalid, Lloyd and John Legend.”

7. What do you want people to take away after listening to your music?

C.J. Green: “To just be themselves and feel good about being that. To keep it real with people even when it’s not popular. And to be there for your kids and peers and set a positive example for them.”

8. Any new music coming out soon?

C.J. Green: “I have a new single coming out with my guy Derez Deshon called “Whats Up?”. Mike millions set it up for me and Derez blessed the us with a dope 16. My bro and emerging producer D Fresh Beatz did the beat and my other bro Art Teacher did the engineering on it. I think it could b a really big record but we’ll see haha.”

9. What is your greatest achievement as a musician?

C.J. Green: “Honestly I’m super hard on myself. I rarely celebrate anything because I know there’s so much more to accomplish. I’m nothing without the team and family behind me and having them for this ride is the best thing to celebrate.”

10. Anything else you want the audience to know about you?

C.J. Green: “I feel like I have a lot to give as an artist and I rather create my own wave than to follow a trend. I stand for what I believe in 10 times outta 10 and encourage everyone to choose love over hate.”
