Read the interview below:

Jay Gauthier Jr.

1. Where are you from?

Jay: “El Monte, California”

2. What exactly do you do for a career?

Jay: “Financial management and leadership development. We’re one of the top financial teams in the country. Ranked top 20 amongst all of USA and Canada. We have 175 advisors. For the client, we do all financial management. Retirement planning, investments, college funds, etc. Teaching and educating people on the basics to money. Finance 101. How money works. How taxes work. How to budget. How to get out of debt. How to build a retirement plan, retire tax free. For the Agent, we help them get into business and build successful companies, sometimes even part time. We have nurses, doctors, teachers, etc, all part time, some making 50K+, some making multiple 6 figures.”

3. What was the process for you to find what you wanted to do?

Jay: “I grew up here in Los Angeles area. Got married at 21. Went to UCLA and became a firefighter paramedic, and then jumped into business part time. After about six months I was introduced to the industry by my father and started on a part-time basis. I wanted to learn all about money and entrepreneurship and I really loved the idea of filling able to build a business on the side of having a full-time career. At the time, the fire department was having budget cuts and there was a very strong chance I was going to not have a job the next year. I left the fire dept and went full-time in business. Took a leap of faith. It’s been the best decision I’ve ever made. We’ve been very blessed. Hard consistent work pays off.”

4. What does being an Entrepreneur coach entail?

Jay: “A lot of coaching and pouring believe into people. On a daily basis I am sitting down with him having conversations with aspiring entrepreneurs that are struggling with their businesses, struggling to get them off the ground, struggling to perfect the system so that they could crack the code in whatever industry they are playing in. I think one of the hardest things about being an entrepreneur is that in so many cases you’re doing it all by yourself. You’re out in the world trying to achieve something that such a small people of people succeed at, but you’re doing it all by yourself.Winning in anything is so hard without a coach. Sometimes all people need is someone to believe in them and pour into them and coach them.”

5. What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Jay: “I love seeing people find courage and succeed. When you start in business you find out who your real friends are. You find out who’s really got your back, who really wants to see you do well, and who’s willing to go out of their way to support you. That’s one of the hardest parts of entrepreneurship. Sometimes it can be very lonely. I would say my favorite part of what I do is taking someone who’s never had a shot to be playing life in the big leagues, coaching them and teaching them skills sets, and then seeing them succeed. It’s also a ton of fun to see yourself succeed and hit your goals. I think the favorite part of entrepreneurship for so many people is just winning. It’s being a part of a very small percentage of the population that is willing to give up sometimes what is guaranteed to chase after something in faith that could amount to so much bigger.”

6. Can you tell us about your company tenacity?

Jay: “Tenacity is a team in the leadership development and financial sector. When I started in the industry eight years ago, I decided I wanted to take the route of building an agency. I wanted to be a part of a movement. I always loved the feeling of being in a fraternity or that type of an environment where there is a brotherhood and sisterhood. We Started out with just myself, my wife Veronica, and my father. Last eight years, we’ve grown as a firm to around 175 agents. Our mission is to take entrepreneurship and financial literacy to middle America.”

Jay Gauthier Jr.

7. You are on a top 20 financial team in the US?

Jay: “Yes, I did not start that way. We are focused on continuing to dominate in every category. Starting from the bottom of every single scale and climbing to the top. It’s very rewarding to set your mind on something that takes years to accomplish, but seeing it through.”

8. How long have you been speaking for?

Jay: “I’ve been speaking for the last eight years. I remember when I was still in high school taking a speech class at the local community college. I loved it. When I started in business, I found myself doing a lot of speaking because that’s how you train and coach your team. It became something that I found how was very gifted in. And having success, we’ve been invited to speak all over the country and Canada. Speaking to large organizations and small. Recently, speaking on a stage of over 40,000 people at our company convention across the United States and Canada at the MGM Grand garden arena in Las Vegas.”

9. Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

Jay: “My vision in the next five years is to be running an organization of at least 2500 advisers. Being able to reach the community on an entirely different level. Becoming completely financially independent. Running successful non profit organizations. And massively expanded in having offices in all 50 states.”

10. What is some advice you would give to a young entrepreneur?
