One Kay (left) & Friend

Chicago based hip hop artist One Kay has been in the game for a minute now, making steady progress as an independent artist. One Kay’s path has never been an easy one, consisting of violence and drugs from an early age. After moving with his mom to Georgia, the rapper started to make a name for himself.

One Kay was involved in gang activity from a young age. His mother often scolded him for the behavior, smelling weed on his clothes and seeing him wearing red all the time. As if his red rag wasn’t enough, One Kay was honest and willingly told his mother that he was a member of the “BloodGang” organization and that he also sold drugs as a hustle. His mother gave him two choices, to either move out or correct his behavior. One Kay chose to move out and continue to pursue his gangster lifestyle. He was only 16 years old, and told himself it was time to become a man.

One Kay connected with a lot of music industry people because of the blood gang ties and also because he was selling drugs that rappers wanted. The young talent’s younger brother introduced him to Rap Star Future’s little cousin Chauncey “Guap Tarantino who asked him to rap on the spot. One Kay began showing off, Impressing Chauncey with his lyrics’ raw emotions. Chauncey told One Kay he wanted him to join his rap crew called “Young FreeBandz”. One Kay accepted the offer, and they began making a name for themselves. Future’s eye was on his little cousin for a while and he gave him the opportunity that he was grinding for. Ever since then “YFBG” has been non stop creating a big buzz in Atlanta, GA.

One Kay has released multiple projects which have already amassed thousands of streams across all platforms. His newest project “Worked My Move” has already been listened to thousands of times since its release in June.
